The Palace Saloon
If you come across Parker Field in Jefferson, Pennsylvania, look just behind the visiting team’s bleachers. There you will find historic Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery. For more than 250 years, this tiny burial grounds has given rest to nearly 250 locals.

A little further South, the Tilleys and the Stanleys were enmeshed in a battle of their own, one that stretched back a dozen years across the Blue Ridge Mountains. A series of vicious attacks between the clans resulted in more than a dozen deaths and gave rise to the legend of the Tilley Bend Witch.

If you follow State Road 84 out of the tiny hamlet of Screven, you’ll likely miss the intersection with Bennett Road. A winding dirt path that trails off into the scrub, Bennett is unremarkable save for the fact that it leads the lonely traveler to Milligan’s Crossing.
The Lost Soldier of Greensboro Cemetery
The city cemetery in Greensboro is like many others in the south. With nearly 3,000 residents slumbering in eternal rest within its confines, it has become a melting pot of the famous and unknown. US Senator Thomas Willis Cobb (of Cobb County fame), fellow Senator William Crosby Dawson, and Georgia Governor Peter Early lay alongside those of lesser means and fortunes.
